Sambuca

Ingredients:

45 drops of anise extract

1 (750-ml) bottle 100 proof vodka or everclear

2 1/2 cups simple syrup

1 cup Karo syrup

whole coffee beans for serving*

Instructions:

  1. Put anise extract in a pitcher with vodka and cover 

  2. Let sit on the counter for 5 to 7 days

  3. Add syrups and let sit overnight

  4. Put into bottles and seal. Refrigerate or freeze.

 

NOTE: it you want to freeze it, test one bottle in the freezer for a day or two and see if it freezes solid or not.

*The traditional serving is with three coffee beans in each glass of sambuca representing health, happiness and prosperity.
