Brioche
Ingredients:
1 cup warm milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 pkg active dry yeast
3 cups flour
3 large eggs
1/2 tbl vanilla extract
8 tbl butter, softened

Instructions:
-
Combine warm milk with yeast, sugar and 1 cup of flour. Cover and set aside in a warm environment for about 30 minutes.
-
In another bowl, whisk eggs. Add the eggs, vanilla and butter to yeast/dough mixture.
-
In small portions, add the rest of the flour.
-
Let the dough rest for about 30 minutes. Knead dough for at least 10 minutes. It will be very sticky, add a little flour now and then and use a scraper to help.
-
Cover in a lightly greased bowl and let rise an hour.
-
Divide the dough into 3 pieces and make ropes of equal length. Lightly flour each rope and then make a braid. Place on parchment lined baking sheet, cover and let rise at least 30 minutes.
-
Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes.

Note: If you use an egg wash before baking it will create a dark crust.
Note: You can also choose to use a loaf pan and create balls to fill the pan. Or make buns.
