Cinnamon & Caramel Rolls

Grandma Hannah

 (3 1/2 dozen)

Ingredients:

2 pkg yeast

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup half and half cream

2 eggs

2 tsp salt

1 cup Crisco shortening

71/2 to 8 cups flour

butter

brown sugar

cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Dissolve 2 pkg yeast in 1 cup warm water and 1/4 cup sugar

  2. Beat together: 3/4 cup sugar, half and half cream, eggs, salt, and Crisco

  3. Add yeast mixture and 2 more cups warm water.

  4. Add flour (a little at a time) to make very sticky dough

  5. Let rise to double.

  6. Roll out 1/2 of the dough at a time and top with; butter, brown sugar and cinnamon (nuts or raisins optional)

  7. Roll, cut and let rise

  8. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes

SWEET GLAZE

Ingredients:

8 T butter

4 cups powdered sugar

2 tsp vanilla

3 to 6 T hot water

Instructions:

  1. Mix melted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla.

  2. Add hot water 1 tablespoon at a time until the glaze reaches desired consistency.

  3. For melted glaze: spread over warm rolls. For more of a frosted roll: spread over cooled rolls.

CARAMEL TOPPING

Ingredients:

4 cups brown sugar

1/2 stick butter

2 T and 2 tsp white syrup

1/2 cup cream

Instructions:

  1. Melt over low heat until sugar is completely dissolved.

  2. Spread on top of rolls when they are cooled.
